Shankill Wellbeing & Treatment Centre, Belfast

Doran Consulting was commissioned by the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust to provide civil, structural and traffic engineering design services for this new multi-service health and wellbeing facility on the Shankill Road in west Belfast.

The building is a 4-storey reinforced concrete framed structure with a structural steel roof, comprised of two blocks linked by a glazed atrium, overlooking a landscaped courtyard and car park, providing a high quality amenity space.

The building was constructed on a raft foundation which was required by NI Water as part of a ‘build over agreement’ due to the presence of a deep existing trunk sewer running across the site. The site was also adjacent to an old health centre which had to be kept live during the construction works, meaning that a carefully phased programme of excavation works were required.

We also provided all associated civil engineering works for this project.
