Strabane Library
Doran Consulting was appointed by WELB, to provide structural engineering design services for this landmark library development. The 2-storey structure is located on a prominent site in the centre of Strabane and houses library, computing and arts facilities for the town. The structure comprises a 2-storey reinforced concrete frame to eaves level, with a structural steel roof.
The triangular nature of the site required a building with challenging geometry, particularly on the variable pitched roof structures. The building was founded on driven concrete piles and ground beams, due to unfavourable ground conditions on site.
