Carlingford Lodge Nursing Home, Warrenpoint
Doran Consulting provided civil, structural and traffic engineering design services for this 75 bedroom, purpose-built care home for older people who require general or dementia nursing care.
The facility was constructed on a sloping site which meant that various reinforced concrete retaining walls were necessary to create lower, middle and upper levels. This load bearing masonry structure was supported on traditional strip foundations. Loose steelwork beams were required to trim service openings in the precast concrete hollowcore floors and to support the timber roof trusses above.
The successful completion of this project also required significant work in conjunction with Northern Ireland Water to arrange the requisition of a new storm sewer to serve the development.
