Doran Consulting welcomes two new Associates

We are delighted to announce the appointments of James Cochrane and Roger Knipe to the post of Associate from 1st January 2018.

James Cochrane joined Doran Consulting in 2007 and has worked on a wide range of Structural Engineering projects over a variety of sectors. He started in the education sector working on University projects providing both research and lecture facilities before progressing to work in the health sector where he has worked on health and wellbeing centres and hospital facilities including the recently opened Omagh hospital. His range of experience also extends to both residential and office developments and includes the City Quays development at Belfast Harbour, having worked on both City Quays 1 and City Quays 2. He is currently a team leader in the power transmission sector of the company having completed the Structural Design of the award winning East West Interconnector which links the British and Irish electrical grids and presently the Caithness- Moray HVDC Link.

Roger joined Doran Consulting in 2016 and is a chartered structural engineer with over 12 years’ experience in building and infrastructure design.  He has particular experience in commercial buildings, industrial and process structures, transportation structures and education projects.  Roger works closely with clients, other designers and contractors to ensure that projects are delivered to the highest possible standard.  Roger is currently leading the structural and civil engineering design for the 16-storey City Quays 3 office development in Belfast Harbour, the new Southern Regional College campus in Armagh and the redevelopment of Parliament Hill School in London.  He also sits on the Council of the Institution of Structural Engineers and has served as a reviewer for technical articles to be published in the Institution’s journal.
