Irishtown Bridge, Omagh
Doran Consulting was commissioned by McCallan Brothers to provide design services for this Design & Build contract for the Roads Service to provide a new footbridge at Irishtown Road in Omagh, Co Tyrone.
The design comprised a three span steel arch and spandrel post structure supported on piled bank seat abutments and piled intermediate piers. This new footbridge is required to take pedestrians off the adjacent narrow road bridge and thus improving safety at this location, and also to connect cycle networks through the town. The design included load assessment to BS EN 1990 and 1991, steel bridge design to BS EN 1993, RC pier and abutment design to BS EN 1992 and geotechnical design to BS EN 1997. Our design services also included obtaining all structural and geotechnical approvals.
