Portrush Train Station

Doran Consulting was appointed as Economic Operator, Project Manager, Civil and Structural Engineer, and Site Supervisor to deliver the re-development of the station, which is located on Eglinton Street, Portrush.

Prior to the re-development, this terminal station comprised of a small ticket office and approximately 50m of platform canopy (Platform 1).   All three platforms showed signs of disrepair.

The newly constructed, state of the art facility comprises a modern single storey station building (400m2 GIA) with all necessary staff and customer provisions.  The 3 platforms (525m) have been upgraded, and platforms 1 & 2 (30m) have been extended.  The boundary wall (225m) along Eglinton Street, is clad in perforated panels with images featuring events and scenes synonymous with Portrush including the seaside, the North West 200 and the golf.  The new station is fully accessible and includes a changing places facility.  The project involved liaison with stakeholders and utility companies, and co-ordination with the Public Realm Scheme.

A planning submission for the 0.93ha project was submitted in June 2017 and subsequently approved in February 2018. Doran Consulting was responsible for the preparation of contract documents in line with NEC3 Engineering & Construction contract and the associated works information (drawings, NBS specifications, schedules).

GRAHAM Construction Ltd commenced construction works in April 2018 and the job was completed in May 2019.
