Launching of the linkspan

Doran Consulting is currently engaged in the role of Lead Designer for the Marine Package of the Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP), Tilbury 2, with an estimated project value of £106M. Doran Consulting initially undertook extensive mooring and berthing analysis at each of the 3No. berths for a variety of RO-RO, CON-RO, Car Carrier and Bulk Carrier vessels (up to 250m LOA and 115,000t displacement). Following this, Doran Consulting designed 15No. multi-pile berthing and mooring dolphins, 22 No. access walkways, including 30m span articulated walkway, pontoon restraint piles and a bankseat structure. Doran Consulting also carried out dredge pocket modelling for the 3No. berths to determine dredge quantities and underkeel clearance, dredge pocket slope stability analysis; and the design of a 330m long underwater dredge pocket sheet pile cut-off wall.

In addition, Doran Consulting is providing design services for the Terrestrial Package, including site wide watermain design.

The recent launch of the 65m long linkspan and 55m x 45m floating pontoon from a slipway in Ravestein BV yard in Deest, Holland, marks a significant milestone in this project. The pontoon will provide loading/unloading facilities for two berths, and link to the new terminal, for an upstream and downstream berth accommodating RO-RO, CON-RO and Car Carrier vessels. The Doran Consulting designed bankseat and 2.4m dia. pontoon restraint piles will support these structures and are currently under construction.
