Ballyhowne Water Supply Scheme, Co. Antrim

The scheme entailed the construction of a 5 Ml reinforced concrete service reservoir at Ballyhowne for NI Water, to provide acceptable water pressures for the expanding housing developments in the North Belfast area.

The project included the construction of a pump house, chlorination building and associated mechanical plant, electrical ancillaries and control systems. The pumping station was designed to lift 36Ml/day to the new service reservoir. It also included the laying of 800m of 350mm diameter ductile iron pumping main and 550m of 250mm diameter ductile iron distribution main with connections to the existing distribution system.
