Ecclesiastical Civil and Structural Engineering Design

Doran Consulting has a long history of providing civil and structural engineering design services in relation to the construction of new and the restoration and refurbishment of existing ecclesiastical premises, including not only consecrated places of worship – the churches themselves – but also ancillary administrative space and community networking centres provided by worshipping communities to provide support services and recreational facilities for local communities.

We have led a number of ecclesiastical refurbishment and repair projects, including major programmes to restore several iconic city centre churches, including St Malachy’s and St Thomas’, to their former Victorian splendour. Refurbishment was undertaken to clean and repair deteriorated original features, subsidence issues were addressed and necessary modernising features, such as disabled accessways, were added.

We also provided a full range of design advice in relation to the construction of new community centres including the Agapé Centre on the Lisburn Road in Belfast and the new YMCA facilities in Lurgan. Both facilities are finished to a very high specification and are equipped with state-of-the-art recreational features including conference rooms, kitchens, and in the case of the YMCA building, an indoor climbing wall.
