Rathview Mental Healthcare Facility
Doran Consulting was appointed to provide Civil and Structural Engineering design and Principal Designer services for a 1,169m2 mental health care facility on a greenfield site near Omagh.
The facility contains a twelve bed discharge unit and a six bed recovery unit, which have been arranged around two central courtyards in order to provide views of the natural environment and maximise natural lighting within the building.
The building was designed to create a homely domestic feel, it is single storey throughout and has a mixture or flat and pitched roofs, which are supported by steel purlins. These steel purlins span between load bearing masonry walls which were constructed off traditional pad and strip foundations.
