Doran Consulting are proud to have worked on two projects which
received RICS Awards, Northern Ireland 2016.
The Commercial category was won by City Quays 1, Belfast, a mixed-use commercial development, on behalf of the Belfast Harbour Commissioners, covering over 20 acres in the Clarendon Dock area of the Port of Belfast. This new development represents a £250million investment in the area which involves the construction of Grade A office space, a hotel, residential units, retail outlets including restaurants and multi-storey car parking.
Doran Consulting were commissioned to provide structural engineering advice in relation to the two new office buildings which, when both complete, will be the centrepiece of this development. City Quays 1 is a 5-storey office building with column free, open-plan working space and car parking on a peninsula site between the Clarendon wet dock and the River Lagan. City Quays 2, which is currently under construction, will be a 9-storey office building with a ground floor coffee shop and car parking in Corporation Square. Both buildings are being constructed with sustainability as a priority as both will be completed to the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standard.
The Community Benefit category was won by SPACE (Shared Process & Community Engagement), People’s Park, Portadown. Doran Consulting were appointed by Fox Contracts to undertake the design services and site supervision for the £5.5 million redevelopment of SPACE, Peopless Park, Portadown.
The works included upgrading park entrances and boundaries, a new MUGA, a new synthetic and sand carpet sport pitches, a new children’s play area, outdoor fitness area, bridges and river bank works, flood alleviation works, a new pond, pavilion building, car park, a new amphi-theatre, gardens, paths, new landscaping in addition, new lighting, CCTV, Wi-Fi, street furniture and drainage systems were installed throughout the park. Doran Consulting completed the design of these work elements including preparation of specifications and drawings.
