Doran Consulting was initially engaged by North Down Borough Council to carry out feasibility studies on several sites to ascertain whether any of them were suitable for development into an extension to Clandeboye Cemetery in Bangor.
Extensive investigations were carried out on various sites and a recommendation was made in relation to the most economically advantageous site which would provide 2,500 new grave plots and facilities for memorial trees. An enablement works contract commenced for the cemetery extension which entailed primarily extensive earthworks to create platforms for the extension, together with surface water drainage and fencing.
On completion, Phase 2 of the works commenced which included provision of access roads, storm drainage, grasscrete paths, drainage, footways, landscaping, headstone foundations, shelter accommodation, water supply and waste disposal facilities.
Doran Consulting also provided CDM Co-ordination services in relation to the extension to the cemetery.
