Comber Leisure Centre, Co. Down
Doran Consulting was appointed to undertake the civil and structural engineering design services for this project which involved the refurbishment of the original Comber Leisure Centre.
The works consisted of the removal of existing walls, floor slab, staircases and flat roof and the provision of a new roof, stairs, a new entrance, new changing room facilities, play areas, party rooms and plant areas. A new lift shaft and first floor fitness suite was also added using mini piled foundations to support new internal steel columns and beams with metal deck concrete floors.
Externally two new fire escape stairs were created, one enclosed and one exposed. New foul and storm drainage lines were also included for the additional changing rooms and facilities.
