Cove Bay Housing Development, Groomsport
This 160 dwelling development is situated on the Donaghadee Road on the outskirts of the village of Groomsport and is set in a 21 acre site adjacent to the shores of Belfast Lough. The development, by MMM Design & Build, comprises of a mixture of family houses from 950ft2 townhouses to 2,500ft2 detached properties.
Doran Consulting provided design services in respect of roads and drainage, trunk sewer realignment, geotechnical problems and structural engineering. A difficult sloping site with variable ground conditions meant that the project required particularly close attention in relation to the foundation design. Structural works carried out included site retaining walls, feature sun rooms and external balconies.
