Mayobridge Sewerage Scheme

As part of the Integrated Waterwater Framework for NI Water, the BSG/ WIS/ Doran Consulting JV undertook sewerage network improvement work in the Mayobridge area of Co Down. The project included the design, construction and commissioning of five new sewage pumping stations and interconnecting rising mains to permit the decommissioning of failing wastewater treatment works at Mayobridge, Derryleckagh, Crownbridge, Ashtree and Savalbeg and the transfer of sewage from these areas to a larger treatment works at Newry.

Work included construction of five pump stations with duty and standby pumps, emergency storage and screening facilities for emergency overflows ranging in size from 6.5l/s (1,050 pe) to 12l/s (1,950 pe) capacity. A total of 9.5km of pumping mains sized from 160mm to 90mm were laid using directional drilling.
