Dundrum WwTW, Co. Down

Dundrum WwTW is a new Wastewater Treatment Works constructed as part of the Integrated Wastewater Framework for NI Water by the Doran/BSG/WIS JV to meet the future regulatory discharge standards in compliance with the EC Directive Municipal Wastewater Treatment.

The scheme replaced the existing percolating filter treatment works at Dundrum on the shores of Murlough Bay with a 2,000 pe Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) technology plant. This system gives a form of treatment that has a reduced footprint that could be accommodated within the existing confined site and it meets the Environment Agency requirements for discharges to shellfish breeding waters.

A modular RBC was used to maintain treatment whilst the existing works was demolished and the new works constructed.
