Doran Consulting was appointed by Belfast Royal Academy to provide civil engineering design, CDM Co-ordinator and site supervision services on the construction of a new synthetic and traditional turf pitches at their playing fields at Roughfort.
Phase 1 of the works saw the construction of a new sand-dressed synthetic hockey pitch, which included the raising of the existing ground levels to meet those of the outside flood plain, the provision of new paths, drainage and fencing.
Phase 2 of the works comprised the construction of the two traditional turf pitches. The works included installation of main and lateral drainage, forming the surface to the design levels and gradients, topsoil improvement and provision of a sand layer and sowing of the pitches.
