Doran Consulting was appointed to lead the refurbishment project of the Mo Mowlam Play Park within the Stormont Estate, providing Civil Engineering Project Management, Principal Designer and Site Supervision services.
The new inclusive facility provides a play space which was designed to ensure children of all abilities are able to play together. It incorporates a variety of equipment including zip lines, a wheelchair accessible roundabout and an all ability swing, and has a dedicated sensory garden.
The scheme involved the refurbishment of the one hectare playpark, renovation of the existing public toilets and the construction of a new coffee hub and picnic area. Access pathways were designed to be DDA compliant, with the existing boundary fencing and gates maintained. New access gates were constructed to provide additional links for users to the Stormont Trails, car-parking and the recently completed Stormont Estate BBQ area.
