Campbell College is located in the suburbs of Belfast and is set in grounds of 100 acres, which include 12 sports pitches. Doran Consulting was appointed to advise on and supervise the conversion of a section of the existing hard porous pitches into two full-size synthetic hockey pitches.
The new pitches were constructed using sand-dressed synthetic carpet (Tarkel integral LSR) on a 15mm shockpad on 65mm open graded bitmac on a stone base, creating an excellent playing surface for hockey, with the option for use for other sports. The pitches were then enclosed by a 3.6m high NK Ibex ballstop fence and the spectator areas fenced off using a 1.2m high NK Ibex Spectator surround.
The new pitches are used by both the pupils of Campbell College and those from neighbouring schools and colleges.
