Doran Consulting was appointed as Project Manager, Civil and Structural Engineer, Principle Designer and Site Supervisor for the construction 9km of new mountain bike trails within Garvagh Forest, in County Londonderry.
There are four trails in total comprising approximately of 3.94 km of red trails, 2.53 km of blue trails, 1.2 km of green trails and a 1.2 km skills loop. In addition approximately 4.2 km of existing tracks was upgraded for use as multi-use trails.
The project also included the extension of the existing car-park from approximately 550m2 to 1200m2. This element of work involved site clearance, construction of a retaining wall, surfacing of the extended car park and associated kerbs and drainage. Doran Consulting was also responsible for the design of a bike wash area and associated MTB signage including waymarkers posts, trail heads and information panels.
